Ok, so my computer is still having this problem with the graphics card. the omega drivers didn't work, and AtI has still yet to put out a driver. So i sent ATi an email asking for help:
"For a while now my computer which runs MS MCE 05, with a mobility radeon x1600 with errors. It's hard to explain the error. The only way i can tell during startup that it has the error is an error that it causes to the mouse curser. The curser is white, with a black outline. When my computer launches with the error the curser's outline is a dashed line. When i run iTunes and any game when the error is there the video is all kinds of messed up. For itunes, only half he video shows up, for the games, the video is just glitchy and incomprehensible. I have checked numerous times and not only are there no drivers for my video card, it's almost like ATi doesn't even acknowledge that they ever want to put out a driver for this card."
I also attached the two pics fron this thread.
Their response was this:
"If you are having problems finding the drivers for your card, please click on the following link: http://www.ati.com/drivers
If the drivers won’t install then we recommend that you:
Use the driver supplied with your notebook computer, or,
Obtain a driver update from the manufacturer of your notebook computer. "
I really want to know if the support people know how to read and follow up on the problems they are asked to fix. |

| Yea, they told me to call the manufactorer of the laptop for the drivers |

| ummm.... shouldn't the regular x1600 drivers be the same? When I had a laptop I don't remember having to get special "mobile" drivers. Its the same architecture it should work. |

| the drivers for the normal x1600 couldn't install becasue the install wizard couldn't find compatible drivers to install |

| don't use the wizard... install them manually... is this a dell? |

| Wow, I have acutally seen that happen on my PC once in BF2, but other than that I have never seen it happen. It appears to be a GPU problem. Either try a couple of different drivers, or your card is on the way out....or has already checked out.... |

| It's an Asus val. Since i installed some updates from ASUS it hasn't happened since. Hopefully it will never happen again. Thanks for the advice guys |

and it didn't work by the way... but it seems to happen less... but it's still lame |
